Faculty
Social work majors at SRU can expect a world class education. The generalist model emphasizes individual, group, family and community work. The primary emphasis of the faculty is on teaching excellence. The program faculty teaching practice courses are active social workers with decades of clinical, group, family, administrative or policy experience. They recognize that learning occurs in the classroom, internships, service learning and other "real world" settings. The diverse faculty provides a CSWE accredited competency-based field of study that prepares social workers for practice and/or graduate studies. In Pennsylvania and nationally our graduates are leaders in countless organizations with successful careers as clinicians, community organizers, directors and educators.
Social work majors can also expect faculty that provide both academic and professional advising. Faculty personally advise each student on course offerings and learning experiences that assist them with understanding career options and reaching their professional goals.
Our faculty are adept at assisting students with associate degrees and those who have taken social work courses outside of the University. The program works with the individual student to receive credit for comparable coursework and competencies earned from other colleges and universities.
