Professor Alice Gretch has taught at SRU, as needed, as an instructor, since 1998, in the Computer Science Department. She has also taught in both the Business and Information Systems Departments. She also is an Associate Professor of IFSM at the University of Maryland, having been employed by the university, since 2002. She received a "Best in Class" recognition for teaching at UMUC (now UMGC). She has also taught at Youngtown State and Penn State Universities, earlier in her career.
Prior to academia, Prof. Gretch held various positions in two organizations with increased responsibility in low to mid-level management in Manufacturing, Information Systems and Logistics/Distribution. She has served on two project teams in those organizations in the selection of new enterprise solutions utilizing the System Development Life Cycle methodology.
Her education includes a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Information Systems with a minor in Mathematics and a master's degree in Business Administration from Robert Morris University. She also has three associate degrees in Engineering, Environmental Science and Computer Science.
She has also assisted two authors (one from SRU), in preparation and editing of content for two publications.
Her specialties/interests lie in educating students on introductory and advanced features of business productivity software applications, ethics, alignment of business processes to information systems, IT strategy, portfolio/project/risk management, compliance, business continuity planning and system security considerations.
