Daniel Dieter, a Slippery Rock University assistant professor of strategic communication and media, presented at conferences in Puerto Rico and Ohio last month.

Dieter shared his research on artificial intelligence in health care in an oral presentation and a poster at the International Conference on Communication in Healthcare in Puerto Rico. His oral presentation was titled “Not-So-Great Expectations: Patient Perspectives of Artificial Intelligence Impact on Health Outcomes and Physician Relationships,” and his poster session was titled “Ethical Imperatives for Communicating Use of Healthcare Artificial Intelligence.” The event, hosted by the Academy of Communication in Healthcare, was attended by hundreds of health care leaders, researchers, educators, clinicians and administrators.

Dieter also presented “E-Game Development Simulation: Teaching Responsibility, Creativity, and Business Acumen,” a GIFTS (Great Ideas for Teaching Students) activity used in one of his SRU communication courses at the Ohio Communication Association Conference at Kent State University, Stark Campus. The event included more than 100 communication educators/researchers from post-secondary institutions primarily Ohio, but also Pennsylvania, Indiana, Virginia and Kentucky.
