Shoemaker named to Erie Reader’s 40 Under 40

Lauren Shoemaker, a Slippery Rock University assistant professor of languages, literatures, cultures and writing, was honored by editors of the Erie Reader on the outlet’s annual list of 40 Under 40 honorees. The award recognizes 40 entrepreneurs, creative thinkers and leaders under the age of 40 who are shaping the future of Erie. Shoemaker, who is also the co-owner of Werner Books in Erie, was recognized for her advocacy at SRU for inclusive, student-centered pedagogy and for integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in the classroom. The Erie Reader is Erie’s only independent, alternative newspaper, covering news, arts and culture.
