A team of students from Slippery Rock University won a Digital Manufacturing Challenge contest hosted by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. SRU’s 3D-printed water filter design won in the Undergraduate Category. The runner up was a team from Ohio State University.

Students who contributed to the design included Andrew Langer, a senior mechanical engineering major from Pittsburgh; Cameron Constantine, a senior mechanical engineering major from Pittsburgh; and Josh Lee, a junior mechanical engineering major from Loretto. Their faculty adviser was Jheng-Wun Su, assistant professor of physics and engineering.

SME is a nonprofit association of professionals, educators and students that supports the manufacturing industry. The contest was organized by SME’s Direct Digital Manufacturing Tech Group, which is part of the organization’s Additive Manufacturing Community.
