Two teams from Slippery Rock University placed first and second in the Drone Wars Competition, an event hosted by Bloomsburg University and sponsored by the U.S. Army where participants operated an unmanned aircraft system through an obstacle course in the shortest amount of time.

Dante Cicco, a junior computing major from Butler; Dante Zitello, a senior computing major from Pittsburgh; and Jacob McMahon, a junior computing major from Pittsburgh, were members of the team from SRU that won the open category. The second-place team from SRU consisted of Chad Dewing, a senior computing major from Pittsburgh, and Kunj Champaneri, a freshman cybersecurity major from Wexford. Both teams were advised by Nitin Sukhija, assistant professor of computing and director of SRU's Center for Cybersecurity and Advanced Computing.

This was the second year that BU hosted Drone Wars as part of BloomCON, its annual digital forensics, cybersecurity and hacking conference.
