Nan Nicholls and Kurt Schimmel, Slippery Rock University professors of management and marketing, along with Cody Nicastro, a senior dual psychology and communication major from Natrona Heights, coauthored a paper that won Best Faculty Paper at the American Marketing Association International Collegiate Conference, March 17-19, in Chicago. Additionally, David Hanna, a junior marketing major from Allison Park, received an honorable mention for the Perfect Pitch Competition.

Each year, the AMA and its collegiate chapters council recognizes AMA chapters and members for their excellence to assist in the growth of their professional development. Hanna and Benjamin Derose, a junior marketing major from Gibsonia, are executive board members of the AMA chapter at SRU and they attended the conference with Nicholls and Schimmel, their chapter advisers.

Nicholls, Schimmel and Nicastro’s winning paper was titled “Functional Motives for Participating in Business School Clubs and Organizations During the Pandemic,” and Nicholls and Schimmel presented at the conference as well.

Nicholls and Schimmel also attended the 2022 Marketing Management Association’s Spring Conference, March 9-11, in St. Louis, where they presented another peer-reviewed paper titled “Underlying Segments for Participating in Business Professional Student Organizations” that Nicastro co-authored.
