SRU Trustees to meet Sept. 22-23

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's council of trustees will meet Sept. 22-23. Committee meetings will be in Room 320 of the Smith Student Center. The quarterly business meeting will take place at 1 p.m., Sept. 23 in Room 321 of the Smith Student Center. All meetings are open to students, faculty, staff and community members who would like to attend.

Agenda items for the Sept. 22 committee meetings include reports from the Academic and Student Affairs Committee, the Finance Committee and the University Advancement Committee.

The Academic and Student Affairs Committee will meet at 12:30 p.m. to hear from David Wilmes, associate provost for student success, who joined the University in July; and Amanda Yale, associate provost for enrollment services, who will present an update on enrollment.

The Finance Committee will meet at 1:30 p.m. to present a review of summer construction projects; a review of the fiscal year 2015-2016 results and the proposed fiscal year 2016-2017 budget; a review of current contracts, fixed assets and service and supply purchase orders; a quarterly financial report; a review of the facilities and planning project list; and review of personnel appointments, which includes instructional, tactical leadership, operational leadership, grant-funded, non-faculty and support staff.

The University Advancement Committee will meet at 2:30 p.m. to provide an update on recent development and fundraising activities from the Slippery Rock Foundation, Inc.

The day will conclude with the official dedication of the Harrisville Building, home of the SRU physician assistant program, from 4-6 p.m. Remarks will begin at 4:30 p.m. Refreshments and building tours will be available. The Harrisville Building is located at 220 W. Prairie Street, Harrisville.

The Governance Committee will meet at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 23. Business to be discussed will include: committee chairs and membership; the Oct. 7 PACT workshop; discussion regarding hosting Edinboro trustees for homecoming Oct. 22; and COT representation on the Slippery Rock Student Government Association board.

The Council's quarterly business meeting at noon will call for action to be taken on the approval of the meeting agenda and minutes from the June 9-10 COT meetings; a review of committee reports and of those items forwarded by the committees and a presentation by Heather Hertel, associate professor of art, on her "Sailcloth Art Project," which is on display through Sept. 30 at the Bayfront Maritime Center in Erie.
