Slippery Rock University students traveled “Around the World” without ever leaving campus as part of the April 22 Relay for Life fundraiser at Morrow Field House. The annual event, which allowed participating teams to represent a country of choice, raised more than $23,000 for the American Cancer Society. The event is not only a fundraiser for cancer research, but also celebrates cancer survivors and honors those who have passed away. More than 430 people took part in the event which also featured performances from the SRU Winter Guard and a dodgeball tournament. It is estimated that nearly 4 million people take part in Relay events in more than 5,000 communities in the U.S.
