SRU’s BA degree in dance ranked nationally

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's Bachelor of Arts in dance has been ranked fifth in the country by dance-colleges.com.

"The dance department always strives to be the best it can be," said Eva Tsuquiashi-Daddesio, dean, College of Liberal Arts. "It's great to see continued praise for the work that our dedicated and highly-qualified faculty and staff perform on a daily basis."

The remainder of the top five included dance programs from: Brigham Young University (first), the University of California Irvine (second), New York University (third) and the University of Alabama (fourth).

Dance-colleges.com noted that 260 schools in 48 states offer bachelor's degrees with concentrations in ballet and ballroom, general dance and dance teacher education. Leading the way is New York with 23 schools, followed by California (21), Texas (19) and Pennsylvania (17).

Dance-college.com has also ranked SRU as among the top 20 dance programs in the United States. According to evaluators, "There are 17 schools offering dance programs in Pennsylvania, and the best option is offered by Slippery Rock University. This college has a great dance bachelor's degree program evaluated with five stars for curriculum and three stars for teaching."
