The Rocket wins four Student Keystone Press Awards

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Rocket, the independent, student-run newspaper at SRU, has won four Student Keystone Press Awards.

The Student Keystone Press Awards, sponsored by the Pennsylvania News Media Association, recognizes high school and college journalism that provide "relevance, integrity and initiative in serving readers."

Any student at any public, private or parochial Pennsylvania high school, college or university who had had his or her material published in a school newspaper may enter the contest.

The Rocket, which competed in PNMA's Division II that includes universities with an enrollment of less than 10,000, has consistently won more honors than any other school in Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education.

The Rocket won awards in the following categories:

Layout and Design: First place for "SRU Basketball, November 9, 2018 edition."
Sports Photo: First place for "SRU vs. ESU Head to Head."
Cartoon/Graphic Illustration Series: Second place for "Hate is Here," "SGA Divide" and "Student Life."
Editorial Series: Honorable mention for "Thank you, Next," "Hate is Here" and "Diverse Student Body."
