Facilities

The Office of Campus Recreation is responsible for the operation of the Aebersold Student Recreation Center (ARC), the McFarland Recreational Sports Complex (MAC), Ski Lodge, campground, and REACH high ropes courses. The facilities are used primarily for student recreational activities, but times are also allotted for facility rentals.  The availability of these facilities varies each semester depending upon the schedule of Campus Recreation activities. Below is an overview of each facility and relevant reservation information and procedures.

Aebersold Student Recreation Center (ARC)

SRU rock wall

The ARC is an 82,000 square-foot, state of the art controlled access facility used for a variety of recreational programs including informal recreation,  intramural sports, club, and student organization special events. Participants must present their SRU ID or ARC Membership card to gain access.  

Facility Components: Aquatic Center, climbing wall, fitness mezzanine, Gym A1-4, Gym B, RPM Multi-Purpose Room, Russell Wright Fitness Center and fitness lab, track, locker rooms and family changing/all gender restroom.

McFarland Recreational Sports Complex (MAC)

The MAC is an outdoor recreational sports complex, at the corner of Harmony and Branchton Roads, used for informal recreation, intramural sports, and facility reservations/rentals.  The fields are used for softball, kickball, flag football, soccer, and ultimate frisbee.   

Facility Components:  Six lighted sports fields (two softball fields and four multi-sport fields), dek hockey rink/two basketball courts, exercise pathway, rugby field, 18 hole disc golf course, and operations building with restrooms.      

REACH Program- High and low ropes course(s)

The REACH Program operates two challenge courses that provide the campus community with the opportunity to engage in leadership and recreational adventure challenges that foster personal and group development. Student groups, organizations and academic classes can schedule sessions to meet their unique goals. Contact Andy Loue (724.738.2883) andrew.loue@sru.edu to schedule a session. 

Ski Lodge

Tucked away in the corner of campus, the rustically designed Ski Lodge provides space for up to 75 people to meet and gather for business or parties. The space is equipped with table and bench seating, indoor fire pit, kitchenette with microwave and restrooms. The Ski Lodge is available to club/organization CORE portal. Academic and university departments are welocme to reserve the space by contacting Andy Loue at 724.738.2883, andrew.loue@sru.edu.   

NOTE: The Ski Lodge does not have air conditioning

CAMPGROUND

Located next to the Ski Lodge, the campus campground provides tent and small RV camping opportunities for SRU students and their families. There are no electrical hookups available.
