- if you want to have your own curriculum designed in this discipline;
- if you are already majoring in any B.A. major (i.e. Arts, History, etc.) as some of the courses for your first major will count towards this Cultural Area Studies major as the second major; and/or
- if you want to be marketable with a second major.

You can also start with a certificate in a related program (i.e. Certificate of Global Learning & Cultural Competence), take one to two more courses to obtain a minor (i.e. Minor in Asian Studies, Professional Japanese, Middle Eastern Studies, etc.), and then if you decide to pursue the study further, take a few more courses to achieve this major.
As the curriculum is individually designed for each student, please contact Dept. of LLWC for more information. We can advise you what needs to be done and how long it will take to complete.
What Will You Learn?
Students will learn a target language and culture while acquiring knowledge, understanding, and respect for the target culture and their own. They also learn interconnection of societies in the world and apply their learning to the real world, specifically, their own future career goals.
