Transfer Credit Evaluation

At Slippery Rock University, the official transfer credit evaluation process is done by the Transfer Services team within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. We work hard to make your experience transferring credits to SRU as easy as possible.

Students seeking readmission should not use this evaluation request form; readmission must be granted before credits will be evaluated. Current students with transient credits should contact academic.records@sru.edu for assistance.

If you have attended an international university. Those credits are evaluated by the Global Engagement Office. Please contact them directly at international.admissions@sru.edu for credit evaluation assistance.

Credit by Exam

AP – Advanced Placement Exams

SRU awards credit for AP exams with a score of 3 or higher; some academic departments require a score of 4 or 5 to earn major-specific equivalencies. SRU equivalencies for AP exams can be found using the transfer course equivalency tool below by searching “AP – Advanced Placement.” Official score reports may be obtained by using the College Board AP website.

Cambridge International A and AS Level Exams

SRU awards credit for A and AS Level exams with a grade of “E” or higher. For AS Level exams, 3-4 credits (one course) are awarded. For A Level exams, 6-8 credits (two courses) are awarded. SRU equivalencies for both Cambridge International exam types can be found using the transfer course equivalency tool below by searching “Cambridge International.” Official exam grades may be sent to SRU using the Cambridge International website.

CLEP – College-Level Examination Program

SRU awards credit for most CLEP exam scores of 50 or higher; some subjects require a higher score. SRU equivalencies for CLEP exams can be found using the transfer course equivalency tool below by searching “CLEP – College Level Examination Program.” Official score reports may be sent to SRU using the College Board CLEP website.

DSST – DANTES Subject Standardized Tests

SRU awards credit for DSST exam scores of 400 or higher; some subjects may require a higher score. SRU equivalencies for DSST exams can be found using the transfer course equivalency tool below by searching “DSST – Dantes Subject Standardized Tests.” Official DSST scores may be sent to SRU through Parchment or by having your official military transcript sent to SRU; learn more from the DANTES transcript website.

IB – International Baccalaureate Program

SRU awards 6-8 credits (two courses) for scores of 4 or higher on Higher Level (HL) exams from the Diploma Programme. SRU equivalencies for IB exams can be found using the transfer course equivalency tool below by searching “IB – International Baccalaureate.” Official IB transcripts may be sent to SRU using the IB transcript website.

Military Credit

SRU awards undergraduate college credit for military education and occupational training based on the recommendation of the American Council on Education (ACE), which is outlined in the ACE Military Guide. Prospective students will be considered for military credit by forwarding a Joint Services Transcript (JST) or a transcript from Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) / Air University to the Transfer Admissions Office at Slippery Rock University.

Transfer Equivalencies Search Resource

Whether you are a prospective SRU transfer student, a current student looking for coursework to complete at another institution during the summer, or a faculty advisor seeking assistance in approving students' transient coursework, this database is a great tool for you!

Before you begin your search, please review the following:

To search for a course equivalency, you must first type the full institution name (abbreviations such as BC3, CCAC, etc. are not recognized). Once you've selected your institution, a full alphabetical list of all previously transferred courses is generated.
To narrow down your options, type a partial course number from the transferring institution. (For example, if you are searching for a math course, but aren't sure of the full course number, type "MAT" and all course prefixes starting with MAT from that institution will populate).
These transfer equivalencies are based on "this equals that" and do not take into consideration SRU's flexible transfer practice. In other words, the database shows if SRU has a direct equivalency for a course, but it cannot show how the course may be substituted in the general education part of a student's curriculum.
The database does not include all coursework from all institutions. Each time a course is presented for transfer to SRU, it is evaluated and added to the system. Thus, if you do not find your school or your course, that simply means it has never been previously evaluated!
If a course transfers as an elective, it may or may not be needed for graduation at SRU. Some majors require electives to complete the 120-credit degree; others do not.
