The SRU CRIM Mission, Vision, and Student Learning Outcomes:
The mission of SRU’s Criminology and Criminal Justice (CRIM) program is to enrich the criminal justice community of Pennsylvania and the nation with professionally, ethically, and critically informed graduates. This mission parallels our vision of being recognized as a premier criminal justice program in the region for providing rigorous, accessible and high-quality educational experience to learners in Pennsylvania and beyond. CRIM Program Student Learning Outcomes are:
- Demonstrate proficiency in the field of crime, justice, and criminology.
- Understand the role of diversity and human experience in the application and study of criminal justice.
- Develop and demonstrate skills in critical thinking, synthesis, and analysis of informational sources about criminal law, policing, corrections, research, and social justice.
- Show understanding and knowledge of the role of ethics, morals and values in the field of criminal justice
Our department offers a BA in Criminology and Criminal Justice. Our undergraduate degree program provides a foundation of knowledge needed for students interested in a variety of careers in the following areas:
- Law Enforcement
- Probation and Parole
- Court Administrator
- Treatment Specialist
- Justice System
