Theatre BA: Theatre Arts Management
Offered by: TheatreWorking in the arts doesn't only mean performing. Often, it's what takes place backstage that determines whether a production- or company- will succeed or flop. Through the Theatre: Theatre Arts Management concentration, students develop skills and gain knowledge related to the management, administration and support of nonprofit cultural agencies, institutions, and performing arts organizations.

Hands-on experience is often the differentiator when it comes to finding a job. At SRU, you'll have plenty of opportunities to put theory into practice by participating in the management and support services for the Theatre Department and the Kaleidoscope Arts Festival. The SRU Theatre Arts Management concentration has also been enhanced by relationships with the Midwestern Arts and Humanities Foundation, the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, Unseam'd Shakespeare Company, and numerous other local and regional arts organizations and artists. Additionally, students majoring in Theatre Arts Management complete internships, enabling them to network with professionals and expand their skills. Finally, since 2016, SRU has toured six productions to the world's largest international theatre festival, the Festival Fringe in Edinburgh, Scotland. Our arts managers return from this program having been responsible for marketing, front-of-house, stage management, and box office operations for a professional production on an international stage.
