As an HCAM student at SRU, you'll become skilled in understanding not only the science and anatomical underpinnings required to pursue your degree in occupational therapy, but will also learn how to become a leader in the field. You'll understand the principles behind healthcare leadership, healthcare quality improvement processes, motivation, teamwork processes, healthcare information systems, the healthcare legal and regulatory environment, as well as managed care and healthcare reimbursement. As members of the nation's largest industry, occupational therapists are being asked to take on leadership roles which include a greater grasp of the business of healthcare.
What are your options?
HCAM Pre-Occupational Therapy SRU 3+3: Earn a Doctor of Occupational Therapy in six years rather than seven. In the first three years, you complete your Health Care Administration and Management major courses and pre-requisites for the SRU OTD program. At the end of your second year, you apply for admission into the SRU OTD program. If accepted, your first year in the SRU OTD program meets the remaining requirements for your undergraduate degree. If not accepted, you continue to complete your undergraduate degree and can reapply to the program. The accelerated option is for incoming freshmen only.
HCAM Pre-Occupational Therapy (SRU Traditional): Complete the requirements for your HCAM major and the pre-requisites for the SRU OTD program and apply to the SRU OTD program in your senior year.
