If you want to effectively share your passion for the environment with others, this minor is for you. Environmental communication and heritage interpretation teaches students how to effectively use speech, images, and technology to communicate about natural resources and environmental issues. This minor draws from multiple perspectives including communication, interpretation, public relations, environmental education, environmental science, and history. This wide perspective, along with ample hands-on and applied experience allows students to not only learn, but to also use these communication skills.

Broad-scale societal changes, such as population growth and expansion, increasing levels of income and education, and urbanization have all affected how people interact with and learn about the natural world. Completing the minor will also enable students to achieve a nationally recognized certification from the National Association of Interpretation.

Careers In Environmental Communication

This program will provide students with the knowledge and skills for careers as: Interpretive Rangers, Environmental Educators, Naturalists, Museum Docents, or Public Relations Officers.
