Art BFA: Fiber Art
Offered by: ArtThe BFA in Art with Concentration in Fiber Art is designed for students interested in exploring traditional and experimental flexible materials and related techniques (textile dyeing, surface design, book arts, papermaking, felting and more). This interdisciplinary program gives an opportunity for developing a portfolio of a wide range of artworks where creativity and material are in focus.

Through explorations in fiber-based and flexible materials, students will be encouraged to develop their individual artistic voice. The studio program provides opportunities for sculptural and two-dimensional approaches, unique artists books and wearable art amongst other possible avenues of exploration.
What Will You Learn?
This program will provide students with opportunities to explore both traditional and experimental flexible materials, techniques and concepts within the traditions and contemporary approaches of Fiber Art. Techniques of textile dyeing, surface design, papermaking, book arts, felting and more, will be explored. Through two- and three-dimensional projects, functional, non-functional, wearable and non-wearable artworks will be created. Students will develop their skills, artistic perception, conceptual thinking and individual artistic vision. Through lectures students will gain knowledge of the history of fiber art.

By completing the professional art degree with concentration in fiber art, students can choose their careers in art education, art therapy, art studio/gallery management, textile design and more.
