Planned Power Disruption Wed. March 12

Tuesday, March 11, 2025 10:00 a.m.

The upper section of Slippery Rock University’s main campus will have a planned electrical service power interruption on Wednesday, March 12, from approximately 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Harrisville and other locations are not impacted).

Why is this happening?

This interruption, scheduled while students are on spring break, will allow the University to make repairs to the upper campus switchgear affected by the disruption that occurred in January.

Which buildings are affected?

The following buildings will experience a service interruption on March 12:

  • Alumni House
  • Art Building
  • Art Metals Building
  • Art Sculpture Building
  • Carruth Rizza Hall
  • Dinger Building (and Dinger Annex)
  • Heating Plant
  • Maltby Center
  • McKay Education Building
  • Morrow Field House
  • North Hall
  • Old Main
  • Patterson Hall
  • Performing Arts Center (Miller Theater)
  • President’s Residence
  • Rhoads Hall
  • Stoner East
  • Stoner West
  • Strain Safety Building
  • Weisenfluh Dining Hall

What should impacted employees do?

If you work in the affected buildings, contact your supervisor to make work arrangements for the day. Most employees will work remotely. If other arrangements are necessary, your supervisor will contact Human Resources to arrange for a workspace in a building on lower campus for the day. Supervisors should contact Human Resources by Friday, March 7, if they need assistance in arranging a workspace.

Please Note

  • The lower campus and greater SRU community may experience brief power interruptions on March 12.
  • The SRU/SGA Preschool and Child Care Center will remain open.
  • Blue light phones and campus call boxes are not impacted.
  • If you require assistance call University Police at 724.738.3333 or extension 3333 from campus phones.
  • The University recognizes the inconvenience of this planned power interruption and appreciates your patience as we conduct vital repairs to build a stronger and more resilient campus.

Any changes or further updates related to this interruption will be shared through campus email and on the SRU homepage.
